Thank you Home Depot

At the regular meeting of the Frank C. Parker, Jr. & Son American Legion Post 901 on Tuesday evening March 14th, 2015 a citation award was presented by Commander Bill Keyes to Michael Palumbo, The Home Depot Store Manager and Brian Jozos Supervisor, for their outstanding support of Veterans in the community. Personnel from the Home Depot store on 600 South Trooper Road in West Norriton mulched, trimmed shrubbery and cleaned up the Veterans Memorial located at the Jefferson Firehouse in West Norriton. Home Depot is also assisting in the installation of a Bocce Ball Court at the Veterans Center in Spring City in cooperation with the DAV that is to be used by veterans living at the center. Having such a court will enable the veterans to be outside and get a little exercise and sunshine. The effort shown by Home Depot’s management and personnel is well appreciated.

Vietnam Memorial Service

On a rainy Tuesday evening 10 November 2015 a Veterans Day Memorial service was held at the Vietnam Memorial at Main and Swede Streets in Norristown. An Honor Guard from the Norristown High School JROTC presented the colors and prayers were cited. The individual names of each deceased Montgomery County Vietnam veteran, their rank, branch of service and year of death were recited. As were the names of deceased service personnel from recent wars to also honor them. Thankfully, some volunteers erected awnings to protect most of those in attendance from the inclement weather and the local Fire Company supplied lighting for the occasion.
